From endless snow cones to long-awaited reunions, the Faith and Family tailgate had it all — and if you weren’t there, you missed out.
From start to finish, it was a day to reconnect and reflect on what a privilege it is to be part of this university. Alumni Relations spared no expense in welcoming returning Cardinals by providing food from Smoke Sky Bar, live music throughout the afternoon, Kona Ice snow cones, and a positive atmosphere to top it all off.
While Alumni Relations was the main organizer of the event, the School of Media and Design also showed its school spirit by hosting an alumni booth. Familiar faces, such as former UIW sports broadcaster Blair Villareal, made an appearance.
“Coming back to UIW for the first time as a new alumnus was really special,” Blair said. “Being able to reconnect with friends and faculty while watching UIW bring home the win made it extra special!”
And alumni Blair Villareal said it perfectly: there is no place like home. The night ended with a thrilling comeback as the University of the Incarnate Word Cardinals defeated the Abilene Christian University Wildcats 38-7. Fans poured out of the bleachers, celebratory fireworks lit up the sky, and memories were made among Cardinals of the past and present. It was truly a weekend to remember!
