Happy October, Bookworms! Interested in the recent ban of several books and educating yourself? UIW has the perfect event for you!
The UIW Library will be celebrating Banned Books Week by hosting a four-day event starting October 6th – 9th, 2025. Join the library community as they stand up for the freedom to read with engaging activities, films, and conversations!
Monday, Oct. 6- Read-In at the SEC patio (8:30- a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) Students, faculty, and staff are welcomed to read banned books in 15-minute increments via mic on the SEC Patio. Service hours are also available. Sign-up up and speak out!
Tuesday, Oct. 7th – Thursday Oct. 9th: More of a visual person? Films will be screened in the library auditorium Tuesday – Thursday for a film screening and discussions @ 2:45 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. With different films and discussions led by different professors including, Dr. Ann David and Dr. Paul Lewis throughout these days. Free popcorn will also be provided, while supplies last!
In addition, there will be a banned book display throughout the week put together by Erin Cassity, liaison librarian, for the UIW community to come and see!
