Calling all band fans and Cardinal supporters! The UIW Cardinal Red Basketball Band is officially back.
The band performs during select UIW home basketball games, led by band directors Nieves Villasenor and Elijah Durate. They are best known for getting rowdy and bringing the energy in the building for all Cardinals.
The basketball teams have expressed their thanks and appreciation to the band for their consistent enthusiasm and dedication to bringing their games to life.
“One of the best feelings is knowing that despite the fact that we are there to support the team after every game, they are willing to acknowledge us and show that they appreciate us being there,” Durante said. “Most people don’t know this is my first time doing this kind of thing… being able to work with so many great musicians and being able to experience basketball for what it is, it’s all a really great experience.”
