It is that time of year again, Cardinals! Fall officially arrived in San Antonio on Sept. 22nd . After months of triple-digit heat, students can finally look forward to cooler days!
Cooler Texas weather always comes with uncertainty, and San Antonio is no exception. Still, students can look forward to crisp mornings, pumpkin lattes, and cozy outfits waiting in the closet.
If you have stepped outside for an early class, you have likely felt a cool breeze across campus. The change is science at work, northern cold fronts, and radiation all cooling create those crisp mornings. Autumn also means lingers nights and lower sun angles, which reduce daytime temperatures. As the ground loses warmth overnight, a process called radiational cooling, mornings feel crisper and signal the season’s arrival.
Beyond the science, fall carries cultural weight at UIW and across Texas. Pumpkin spice drinks return, football season is in full swing, and campus life find a new rhythm. For many, autumn is more than just a season. It’s a vibe, a reset, and a chance to enjoy the small comforts that come with cooler days.
Whether you’re savoring a morning breeze, cheering at a football game, or thankful for a break from the heat, fall in San Antonio’s is worth celebrating.
