We’ve got plenty more happening on campus this Saturday. This Saturday UIW is hosting its first home football game of the Fall 2025 season. The Cardinals will face Eastern Washington University on home soil. The theme of this game is RED OUT!
But wait! If you are looking for free merch, free food, and fun activities before the game, UIW’s Tailgate is perfect for you! The tailgate will take place in the surrounding areas of the football field. The tailgate will begin @ 4pm. You can find different student organizations such as CAB, Greek life, SGA, and many more at the tailgate! Be sure to come out and support UIW pride at the Pre-game before the function!
If you are looking to attend these events this weekend, you might be wondering what the parking situation will look like.The parking will be different compared to a regular day on campus. More areas will be closed off due to this. UIW released information on parking for Saturday:
Please note that the Agnese/Sosa parking garage located by the Student Engagement Center will remain open for students or employees working or attending class. Please enter campus through the Burr St. entrance located off Broadway. Be prepared to show your UIW ID at the entrance.
• Parking area between the tennis courts and the football field – closed
• Parking areas between the tennis courts and natatorium – closed
• Parking around the natatorium – closed
• All parking areas around the softball and baseball fields – closed
• The small lot between the San Antonio River and Agnese/Sosa – closed
o This will be used for Cardinals Club donors exclusively (blue).
• The roadway under the football bleachers will be closed from 7 a.m. – 11 p.m.
• The roadway from Avoca to the McDermott Center will be closed from 7 a.m.-11 p.m.
• The roadway between the San Antonio River Bridge and the McDermott Center will be closed from 7 a.m. – 11 p.m. (This means no thru traffic between main campus and upper campus.)
The following lots will be open for guests on game day.
• Handicapped parking in front of the Solar House – open / $10 parking. Verified by license plate or hanging tag.
• Public parking will be located at Founders Hall, Ancira Tower and the McCombs parking areas – open / $10 parking
Be sure to come out in red gear and cheer the team on. Kickoff will be at @ 6pm on Saturday August 30th.
