UIW Men’s Basketball: Postseason Journey Continues

By Matthew Montoya

SAN ANTONIO — Despite falling short in the Southland Conference Tournament, the University of the Incarnate Word men’s basketball team’s season isn’t over just yet. The Cardinals have earned a spot in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) in Dayton, Ohio.

What’s Next for UIW?
After upsetting Southeastern Louisiana in the first round of the Southland tournament and putting up a strong fight against Nicholls, UIW’s performance caught the attention of the CBI selection committee. The Cardinals will now face Manhattan College in the opening round of the 16-team postseason tournament.

Scouting the Opponent
UIW will take on the Manhattan Jaspers, a program from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The Jaspers finished 12-8 in conference play and 17-13 overall. Entering the MAAC tournament as the No. 5 seed, Manhattan was eliminated in the second round following a 77-65 loss to Iona.

Key players to watch for the Jaspers include guard Will Sydnor, who leads the team in scoring, sharp-shooter Devin Dinkens, and versatile forward Wesley Robinson.

How to Watch
The game will not be televised on traditional cable networks but will be streamed live on FloCollege, a platform dedicated to smaller college sports events.
