The University of the Incarnate Word comes with more benefits than just getting an education. Several businesses around San Antonio offer discounts to UIW students, and some of the best deals are just minutes away from campus.
One of those places is Commonwealth Coffeehouse, located at 118 Davis Court, right across from UIW. Whether students need a morning coffee before class, a quick breakfast or a place to study, Commonwealth has become a convenient spot for Cardinals. According to UIW’s student discount website, students can receive 10% off their purchases by showing their student ID.
Another popular option is Regal Cinemas at the Alamo Quarry, located a short drive from campus. Going to the movies is an easy way to take a break from school, especially after a long week of assignments or practice. UIW students can receive a 10% discount on movie tickets after 6 p.m. by presenting their student ID.
“After a long week of practice and classes, it’s nice to go watch a movie with my teammates or friends. As college students, we’re always looking for ways to save money,” said Dane Farley, a UIW football player.
Food is another expense that adds up quickly, especially when students are constantly on the go. Fortunately, restaurants near campus also offer discounts. Cheesy Jane’s, located at 4200 Broadway, gives UIW students 10% off their purchases. Julian’s Italian Restaurant on North New Braunfels Avenue also offers a student discount, making it another option for grabbing a meal with friends.
“I didn’t even realize how many places offered discounts until I started looking into it. I feel like more students would use them if they knew about them,” said Isabella Saenz, a UIW student-athlete.
For UIW students, one of the easiest ways to save money might be something they already carry every day: their student ID.
