For University of the Incarnate Word football fans, the quarterback position has become more than just a role; it’s a tradition. From Cam Ward’s electric playmaking to Lindsey Scott’s championship run, UIW has built a reputation for producing elite quarterbacks who leave their mark on the program and beyond. Now, Emmett Brown steps into that lineage as the 2026 starting quarterback, ready to continue the legacy that helped define UIW football.
“Being a starting QB anywhere is a tremendous honor,” Brown said. “But being part of a university that has had a lot of elite QB success is pretty sweet. Cam Ward, Lindsey Scott, Zac Calzada, EJ Colson four guys that had tremendous success here and beyond. It’s a total privilege to play this position here and to shoot for continuing the QB success at UIW.”
Brown transferred to UIW from a large public university and found the transition to a smaller, community-based campus easier. He said the tight-knit environment has helped him connect more deeply with teammates and classmates.
For Brown, the legacy isn’t just about statistics or records. It’s about representing the university and the players who came before him. Each quarterback has left a mark on UIW football, and Brown hopes to add his own chapter to that story.
“My goal for the 2026 season is to win a championship,” Brown said. “Whether we have to throw 50 times a game or not, whatever the team needs from me, I aim to give that.”
As the Cardinals compete in the fall season, Brown’s leadership and mindset reflect what UIW football has always stood for: commitment, community, and pride. He continues the growing legacy, one quarterback at a time.
