The UIW Women’s soccer team is deep into its 2025 season! Competing in the competitive Southland Conference, UIW Women’s soccer has an overall record of 4-7-4 and a conference record of 2-4-3. Their most recent match on October 19th was a well-fought match against Northwestern; however, the Cardinals fell short in a 1-0 match. But still, they gained a 2-0 conference shutout win against Nicholls and McNeese State.
Between goal-scoring and playmaking, The Cardinal’s offensive team has seen several key players emerge as standouts on the pitch. Sinead Duffy (Forward): The senior leads the team in total points and has been a dual-threat with 3 goals and 3 assists. Atiana Lara (Forward): the team’s top goalscorer, Lara has put 4 goals in the net this season. Hannah Alexander (Goalkeeper): The veteran goalkeeper has been a fixture in goal, starting all 15 matches and logging 67 saves in the season.
With the regular season winding down, UIW sits eighth in the conference standings. The Cardinals will travel for their final match of the regular season, facing Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday, October 30. This last game will be critical for securing and solidifying their position heading into the Southland Conference Tournament.

The UIW Men’s Soccer Team is searching for some leverage as they navigate this challenging stretch in the Ohio Valley Conference. After soaring through the pre-season, where they knocked off the nationally ranked #18 SMU in a 2-1 match, the Cardinals have faced adversity in conference play.
Following a 2-1 loss to HCU last Friday, their winless streak continues. Their overall record of 4-7-5 stands as of Oct. 28th with a conference record of 0-5-3. Despite the recent struggles, the team’s early season success proved their potential, and they look to recapture that form in their final home matches.
With their tremendous effort this season these key players have been central to their offensive efforts this 2025 Fall season:
Diego Robles (Forward): the team’s primary offensive weapon, Robles leads the team with four goals and three assists for a total of 10 points for the team. Noe Robles (Midfielder): second on the team with three goals and one assist for seven total points making him a key part of the attack. Giovanni Padilla (Midfielder): team’s main playmaker, leading with four assists in the season.
As the Cardinals prepare for their final 2 home matches of the Fall 2025 season, it provides a crucial opportunity for the team to end their season on a high note and build momentum for future seasons.
