Title V Flight Peer Mentors are UIW students interested in helping other students succeed. The UIW Flight Peer Mentoring Program was established with a mission for upperclassmen to help first-year students find a sense of community and belonging. If you meet the following requirements, you are invited to complete and submit the interest form:
- A UIW student who has completed at least 32 hours and has a 2.5 or higher GPA
- A UIW student who loves working with and helping other people
- A UIW student who is willing share their experiences with other students
- A UIW student who is dependable
- A UIW student committed to the exploration of the UIW mission
Students who are selected will be Flight certified and serve as peer mentors in First Year Experience Seminar courses. Selected peer mentor applicants will be required to:
- Successfully complete the FLIGHT Peer Mentor Training Course
- Attend an in-person FLIGHT Peer Mentor Retreat scheduled before the first day of FALL classes
- Be dependable, attend meetings, and complete assignments regularly and on time
- Communicate regularly with the FLIGHT Peer Mentor Coordinator
- Uphold and abide by the UIW Student Handbook
