On Feb 28th. at 11 a.m., you are invited to come to the Avoca Parking Lot to help with the Cardinal Clean Cup.

Cardinal clean-up is a community service event at UIW where students are invited to do volunteer work through cleaning up on campus. People participating will be picking up all the trash in the parking lot outside of the stadium in hopes of making it spotless. Not only does the event hold the belief of a spotless cleaning and to help the community but also the belief that this is a great chance for people to meet one another. Coming to the clean-up will not only help the college but will also help you as a student in other ways. If you attend and participate, you will be able to receive community service hours for every bag that you fill up. This is a great opportunity for you to knock out some hours for the required service hours that UIW has for students.

Monse Elizondo, one of the team members in charge of the event said,

“We aim to introduce more sustainable events on campus, starting with a campus clean-up to engage students in meaningful action. We’ve chosen the Avoca/McCombs area for this event, as it’s a high-traffic spot for on-campus residents and borders the headwaters. This area could use some care, making it the perfect location to focus our efforts. Through this initiative, we hope to inspire students to take pride in our campus, contribute to its upkeep, and enhance its beauty by coming together to clean up.”
