Little Angels of Mary is a nonprofit that seeks to improve education and nutrition in the villages of Guatemala. Students traveled to communities in Chimaltenango, three hours away from Guatemala City, to assist and support local families, especially in the areas of health and education.
Little Angels of Mary began in 2022, and in 2023 they started taking UIW students to help with their mission of providing better education and better nutrition for children. Since 2022, they have made noticeable progress within the community.
“Living in those communities is not like living in the city. The city is totally different,” one teacher explained. “But in those communities, I feel that with the support of the parents and the teacher, everything comes together.”
Students from all majors were able to join the trip, putting their fields of study and talents to the test. Participants completed all of their service hours and also had the chance to explore the country’s natural and cultural wonders afterward.
